Meyer Residence with Whitney Architecture and 3BLC
Whitney Architecture’s certified Passive House on Whidbey Island achieved the extraordinary feat of designing a home with heating and cooling loads that were lower than any readily available heat and cooling equipment. When the client sought a fully ductless heat and cooling system, it presented significant issues for proper load matching to ensure comfort and equipment longevity.
Our solution centered on an extraordinarily efficient Zehnder HRVsystem that handles ventilation with minimal energy loss. We also designed a heating and cooling system with a dedicated heat pump for each space in the home, maximizing system responsiveness and flexibility. This approach allows each zone to match the very low loads of this home, creating a comfortable and effective system that might otherwise be prone to significant overheating and overcooling.
